While in London, I definitely wanted to take advantage of the many different travel destinations nearby. I've heard so many amazing things about the South of France and many people recommended staying in Nice. So, I packed my bags and got on an early morning flight to make my way there.
When I arrived, I dropped off my bags and immediately began exploring the city a bit. The streets were filled with beautifully designed apartments, cafés, and shops. In the afternoon, I went to Colline du Château, where you can find many different viewpoints of the city. I did not realize how many steps it would take to climb up to the various points, which ended up being about 20,000, but the sights were all worth it.
The next day, I headed out for a day trip to Monaco, which was just a 20 minute train ride away. Of course I had to check out the famous Monte Carlo Casino and the Fairmont Hairpin F1 Curve, which is a well known spot in F1 races. Then I headed to Monaco City, where the Palais Princier, Terrasse du Palais, and Jardins Saint-Martin are located. I walked through the streets of Old Monaco and ate a delicious freshly made pasta. I headed back to Nice in the late afternoon and walked around the shopping street of Avenue Jean Médecin.
On my third day there, I went to Old Town Nice where they hold the Cours Saleya Market everyday. The street was filled with vendors who sold plants, souvenirs, different foods to try, art, and so much more. I tried socca from Chef Thérésa and also had a delicious citron cake from Marinette. After walking through the market streets, I headed to Ricami Veronica, which is known for their embroidered souvenirs. Of course, I had to bring back personalized items for myself and my family back home. Then I headed to Place Garibaldi and to my surprise there was another market happening there. I was told that you definitely need to try the seafood while you are in Nice, so for dinner I went to La Favola and had their seafood spaghetti.
My flight back to London wasn't until the evening, so I had a few hours to spend walking around the city on my last day. I spent the day strolling through the town, going to different cafés, and browsing through the shops. I loved the citron cake from Marinette, so I stopped by again to bring one back to London. Before I left, I took one last stroll along the beach. My trip to Nice was such an incredible experience and I definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting there!
